B2: Orienting Students to Online Technologies - About the Author
Kathy Hays is an assistant
professor of mathematics at Anne Arundel Community College. She developed
The Nature of Mathematics online course and taught it in the fall of
2000 and the spring of 2001. She also taught the course to inmates at
a correctional institution during the spring of 2001. She taught a hybrid
web/video College Algebra course in the spring of 2001 and will be developing
the course so that it will be completely offered online in the fall of
2001.
She received her BS in mathematics from Purdue University
and her MA in mathematics from Ball State University. She has taken further
course work in electrical engineering from Purdue University, and in
math and education from the University of Maryland at College Park and
Portland State University. She has attended online conferences virtually
from Purdue University and Kapi'loni Community College, University of
Hawaii.
She received additional assistance from her son, Seamus
Leahy. As a student at Anne Arundel Community College, he has taken online
courses in his studies to work toward an associate degree in computer
science and web design.
